This year’s event focused on four main themes: national IT infrastructure – problems and solutions, ICT – institutional reform and improvement of macro competitive capacity and ICT’s role in raising the business competitive capacity and tertiary education reform.
Addressing at the Summit, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said the ICT industry has become an economic spearhead over the past 10 years, has directly contributed nearly 7% to the national gross domestic product (GDP). He also emphasized that IT is a unique advantage in ICT development with its young, abundant, and well-trained workforce.
Attending the event, former Japanese Prime Minister Hatoyama shared Japan’s experiences in implementing IT policies. “It is important for Vietnam to pay more attention and expand international cooperation in training IT human resources”, he added.
The summit is a meeting place for policymakers and ICT business managers to identify trends, share visions and plan strategies as well as seek solutions to make ICT the foundation of national development.
