Vietnam attends ITU Telecom World 2019

On September 9, the ITU Telecom World 2019 opened in Budapest, Hungary. The Vietnamese delegation led by the Member of Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung attended and had side meetings.


 The ITU Telecom World 2019 is an annual event of ITU. The event attracted the participation of over 5000 delegates from more than 100 countries, including more than 200 senior leaders such as ministers, heads of management agencies, international organizations, and leaders of corporations, associations and global media.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, as the host country of the 2020 ITU Telecom World, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung stated that the role and transformation of telecommunications and ICT would be the new infrastructure in the digital world. That needs to join hands to create innovations in technology, in policies and strategies. The Internet is the Internet of things. A new wave of connectivities is coming, which is connecting everyone, connecting everything, connecting everywhere and connecting at all times.
The Minister affirmed that Vietnam was making its efforts to transform telecommunications infrastructure into ICT infrastructure, with the project of the National Digital Transformation Strategy. Accordingly, the network security and digital principles will be basic requirements of digital transformation.
On this occasion, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung officially announced that Vietnam would host the 2020 ITU Telecom World in September 2020 in Hanoi, Vietnam. The Minister kindly invited ITU member countries, international organizations, and global ICT community to come to Vietnam and attend this important event.
With the theme "Innovating together: connectivity that matters", ITU Telecom World 2019 Exhibition takes place from 9-12 September. Events include exhibitions of ICT products/ equipment, applications, technology and services; high-level policy forums; etc.
