Vietnam and Cuba agree on digital skill development programs

Strengthening digital transformation cooperation was at the forefront of talks between Vietnamese Minister Nguyen Manh Hung and his Cuban counterpart, Mayra Arevich Marín.

On November 2, during the visit of the President of the Cuban National Assembly to Vietnam, Cuban Minister of Communications Mayra Arevich Marín and Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung held a meeting to advance cooperative programs in the field of Information and Communications.

At the meeting, the two ministers acknowledged and commended the outcomes of their collaborative efforts, particularly in organizing training programs on information security, telecommunications management, frequency regulation, IT application, and e-government deployment. These programs will continue to be strengthened in the future.

Ministers Marín and Hung discussed policies for fostering digital transformation, shared experiences in organizing training sessions, enhancing digital skills, and implementing grassroots digital transformation projects.

Cuba is currently emphasizing the role of its Youth Union and young IT engineers to guide and support citizens in adopting digital technologies. Minister Nguyen Manh Hung shared Vietnam’s experience with deploying community-based digital technology teams in villages and communes to assist citizens.

Both parties agreed to bolster cooperation programs to build digital transformation capabilities and utilize digital platforms for training citizens and businesses.

Regarding investment cooperation, the ministers agreed to facilitate business interactions between the two nations, exploring opportunities for joint ICT projects, particularly in the newly established high-tech zones in Cuba.
