Spectrum management for mobile broadband

On June, 8 th , 2016, in Hanoi, the Authority of Radio Frequency Management (MIC) organized a Workshop on Spectrum Management For Mobile Broadband 2016. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam attended and spoke at the event.


The spectrum management for mobile broadband applications and technologies is a hot issue in Vietnam, when the schedule for licensing 4G technology is in 2016 and 5G technology concept is adopted worldwide. One of the outstanding features of 4G technology is high-speed connections. Accordingly, the mobile broadband technology of the future can only be realized if the demands for spectrum is met.

This workshop is an opportunity to connect, exchange and discuss spectrum issues and latest technologies such as: Vision of the 5th generation mobile communication network (5G), next-generation broadband wireless technologies, network solutions for broadband wireless communication, WiFi offload in mobile communication networks, etc.
At the workshop, participants listened to the leading experts from the region and the world, such as: Ericsson, Qualcomm, Sam Sung, Huawei, Intel, Viettel sharing experience in exploiting and supplying mobile broadband services.
Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam said the mobile communication is strongly developed in Vietnam, bringing many benefits to economic and social development. MIC attaches great importance to the development of next-generation mobile broadband, therefore, Minister of Information and Communications  counseled the Government to issue Decision No. 149/QD-TTg dated January, 21st, 2016 approving the Program on developing the broadband telecommunications infrastructure by 2020. One of the goals of the Program is to build the infrastructure of 3G/4G mobile broadband serving 95% of the population by 2020 and capable of providing broadband services to the majority with good quality and at reasonable rates.
