The forum is a good opportunity for Vietnam's post, telecommunication and IT businesses to approach new investment projects in Laos; strengthening connectivity and promoting cooperation and investment in ICT.
More than 100 delegates attended the Forum, including the leaders of the two ministries, the Vietnam’s Ambassador to Laos, representatives of the State Bank of Laos, post and telecommunications enterprises, etc.
At the Forum, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications shared information on Lao investment and ICT infrastructure to attract investment. VNPT Group introduced its strengths and potential cooperation with Laos partners. Star Telecom, a joint venture between Vietnam and Laos, presented its capacity and productions.
Speaking at the Forum’s opening speech, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao said that through the Forum’s activities, ICT enterprises in the two countries would have more opportunities to learn and promote commercial cooperation, investment in the coming time.
Also within the framework of the Forum, the signing of cooperation agreements between VNPT and Lao Telecom Company; VNPost and Lao Post; Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Institute and Lao ICT Institute were oganized.
The Vietnam-Laos ICT Cooperation Forum 2017 is a very important and practical activity because it takes place on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (1977-2017) and the 55th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos (1962-2017).
