Ministry of Information and Communications and Kaspersky Lab enhance cooperation in cyber security

On December 19, 2019, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung had a meeting with Mr. Eugene Kaspersky, General Director of Kaspersky Lab Company.


 At the meeting, concerning the situation of cyber security in Vietnam in general, Mr. Eugene Kaspersky assessed that Vietnam has made significant improvements  in recent years. However, the information security industry in Vietnam still needs more efforts, positive and appropriate actions to be improved. Especially in the context of Industry 4.0, critical infrastructure systems are very vulnerable, so new approaches to information security are needed: When developing ICT systems, from the designing stage, there must be a plan for security.

 Minister Nguyen Manh Hung expressed his high agreement with the new approach to information security mentioned by the Kaspersky representative. He suggested that Kaspersky shared its experiences with the Department of Information Security.
The Minister of Information and Communications also shared with Kaspersky's representative a number of important policies and action plans related to cyber security in 2020.
The Minister affirmed that Vietnam's prosperity depends on the Internet. Vietnam needs a strong cyber security industry to protect itself in cyberspace. The Minister suggested that Kaspersky cooperate with the Ministry of Information and Communications to develop Vietnam's cybersecurity industry for a prosperous future.
Mr. Eugene Kaspersky said Kaspersky was very pleased to cooperate and shared experiences with the Ministry of Information and Communications. Kaspersky is ready to cooperate with Vietnamese cybersecurity companies to build a secured ecosystem in Vietnam.
Also at the meeting, there was a MoU signing ceremony between the Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications) and Kaspersky Lab (Russian Federation).
