The Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information (ABEI), together with FPT Online Service JSC, on September 11 held a ceremony to announce the Vietnam iContent 2024, a festival of Vietnamese digital content creators that runs until November.

Along with the development of the internet and digital platforms, Vietnam has been witnessing strong growth of content produced and disseminated via the internet. The content creation on social networks has become increasingly favored by the public, especially young people.

Content creators are holding increasingly important roles in information and communications, spreading significant messages and contributing to connecting a strong and responsible digital communication community.

In such conditions, Vietnam iCotent 2024 is being directed by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and deployed by ABEI, together with FPT Online Service JSC, in an effort to recognize, honor and support the contributions and talents of Vietnamese digital content creators.

The event also serves as an opportunity for state management agencies, content creators and businesses to meet, exchange views and set directions for the development of the Vietnam’s digital content industry.

ABEI head Le Quang Tu Do said MIC for the first time in 2023 organized an event connecting digital content creators and creator management companies of the three largest platforms in Vietnam, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok. MIC realized that content creators wanted to be recognized and honored by the state.

The lack of a title, honor, connection, or meeting has caused some content creators to fall off the right track. In general, platforms apply algorithms and mechanisms to pay content creators based on revenue and profits from ads, and the number of viewers. Therefore, many creators have generated deviant content, which may even harm society.

“The presence of all three parties, including state management agencies, large platforms and advertisers/strong brands at the program sends a clear message to digital content creators, creator management companies and KOLs (key opinion leaders) that content creators need to make ‘clean content’, and they will be able to live well with the clean content,” Do said.

Vietnam iContent 2024 is expected to become an annual and prestigious event for digital content creators and content development units generating value on digital platforms in the Vietnamese market.

With the theme "Be creative, be iconic", the event starts in September and ends with the Vietnam Digital Content Creators Festival in November in HCM City./.
