Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam speaks at the Vietnam Internet Day 2021.
The event, held in Hanoi on December 15 by the Vietnam Internet Association, revealed a panoramic, multi-dimensional picture of the development of the Internet in Vietnam.
By June 2021, the number of Internet users in Vietnam was nearly 70 million.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said the number of internet service providers in Vietnam now stands at more than 100 and is likely to increase in the time ahead. He called for joint efforts to create an environment and ecosystem where the potential of each individual and organization is used to accelerate Vietnam’s digital transformation.
“We do not simply consider the user as a customer, but together we will create an ecosystem and environment to promote the full potential of each individual and organization for the digital transformation of Vietnam to develop in a positive and effective way,” said Mr. Dam.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Duc Long
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Duc Long stressed the need to change the mindset toward digital transformation, build data culture, develop digital infrastructure, protect basic moral values and ensure cybersecurity and safety.
Under a draft scheme on information and communication infrastructure during the 2021-2030 period, with a vision towards 2050, the Ministry of Information and Communications aims to develop national data infrastructure, and form a system of international, national, regional and local data centers that are connected with each other, thus turning Vietnam into a regional and international center for data storage and processing.
The ministry is working on a national data strategy expected to be approved, issued and rolled out next year, he said, urging the business community to join hands in developing digital infrastructure, especially data infrastructure.
The Ministry of Information and Communications aims to have 65,000 digital enterprises accompany 1 million Vietnamese enterprises to form 1 million digital enterprises so that Vietnam can develop a digital economy and catch up with the 4th Industrial Revolution.
