Facing proposals for licensing 4G of Department of Information and Communications of Hanoi and Viettel, Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung informed MIC had licensed for 4G testing until the end of October, 23rd. As directed by the Ministry of Information and Communications, Authority of of Telecommunications is requiring telecommunications operators to report testing results for assessing the trial.
Authority of Telecommunications would summit to the Ministry for licensing 4G services by the end of the 3rd or the beginning of the 4th quarter, Mr. Trung said.
Earlier at the conference, Ms. Phan Lan Tu, Director of Department of Information and Communications of Ha Noi said, Ha Noi were eager to modernize the Information and Communications sector. The Department proposed to deploy 4G licenses in Hanoi to promote e-government, IoT, etc.
Meanwhile, Mr. Hoang Son, Deputy General Director of Viettel proposed to license 4G by September. In the first 6 months, Viettel focused on R&D, manufacture of 4G equipment to meet the needs of domestic and abroad markets, ect. Viettel tested 4G in Ba Ria - Vung Tau. In July, Viettel will work with Authority of Telecommunications to assess 4G voice quality.
Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan required 4G testing operators urgently evaluate testing results, assess the quality of services, the problem of interference, licensing records, etc."Based on the assessment, MIC will license at the earliest available time to create conditions for equal competition ...", Minister Truong Minh Tuan emphasized.
