The awards were jointly held by the Good Books Reading Project, the IRED Education Institute and OpenEduInitiative.
This year, awards will be presented to 15 original Vietnamese works and translations in seven categories including education, research, economics, management, literature, children's books, and new discoveries.
The best book in the research category went to “Lang mac o chau tho song Hong” (Villages in the Red River delta) by Nguyen Tung and Nelly Krowolski.
Tran Huu Quang and his team of translators won a prize for their translation “Su kien tao xa hoi ve thuc tai” of the book The Social Construction of Reality by Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann.
A book entitled “Giao duc Viet Nam hoc gi tu Nhat Ban” (What Vietnamese Education can learn from Japan) by Nguyen Quoc Vuong won in the education category.
The work “Nhat ky cau nhoc Alvin sieu quay” (Diary of a super naughty kid Alvin) by Nguyen Khang Thinh, a 6th grade student at Nguyen Sieu School in Hanoi won best book in the children’s books category.
According to philosophical researcher Bui Van Nam Son, a member of the jury board, every book honoured in each category delivers its own messages and values that the authors, translators and publishing companies wish to convey to the people.
Educational activist Gian Tu Trung, a member of the jury board said that the nomination, evaluation, voting and publication of good books have all helped readers gainmore access to valuable books while unlocking their mind and unleashing their potential.
