National conference on developing IT human resource

A national conference on developing IT human resource was co-organized on 21, April 2010 in Hanoi by Ministry of Information and Communications and Ministry of Education and Training.

The Conference was held in order to implement Dicision 698/QD- TTg dated 1, June 2009 of the Prime Minister on approval of overall plan for IT human resource development. According tho the Dicision, until 2015, there will be 30% graduates major in IT, Telecommunications and Electronics enable working in international market, 100% students in training vocational colleges have enough skills in IT application; 100% students in secondary schools and 80% students in primary schools are taught Computer Science; 65% teachers can apply IT in teaching; 100% teachers in high schools and universities are equipped personnal computer. 250,000 workers specialized in IT, electronics and communications are trained to work for enterprises.

Vietnam"s IT human resourve training has not caught up with the level of some developed countries in the region, and has not met demand of enterprises especially foreign companies. Some highlighted issues discussed in the conference included Vietnam"s IT industry development and IT application in Vietnam, IT human resource, targeting and forecasting demand of human resource, training Ph.Ds in IT field abroad funded by state budget.

Some universities also reported their IT training such as Ho Chi Minh National University, Hanoi University of Technology, Van Lang University, Duy Tan University, and French Informatics Institute. Some big companies gave speeches on IT field such as Microsoft, IBM, Quang Trung Software City, Hoa Lac high-tech management Unit, Informatics Association, Vietnam Informatics Safety Association (VNISA).

The socialization of education will continue, Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan confirmed. On proposal of framework for IT training, he would have other meeting with related units to make decision.
