Accordingly, the city is going to build digital infrastructure with an aim to develop a high-quality broadband infrastructure for the whole city.

It will support telecommunications businesses to expand its broadband network and develop 5G mobile connectivity.

It will also promote digital transformation and the transition to using the new generation Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) for all management systems of State departments and agencies at all levels in the city.

Building and developing an appropriate Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure will be paid more attention.

This year, the city will continue to deploy 5G mobile network and IoT infrastructure for Thủ Đức City and districts.

It is completing the shared database and open data ecosystem, the digital data governance strategy for Whole-of-City by 2025 with a vision towards 2030, giving priority to developing administrative and urban planning data.

It will set up an e-portal for AI solutions and applications to promote AI products and research results of universities, process demands of businesses for AI training and application and AI contests, and implement a project to develop human resources for AI.

In Việt Nam, AI applications cannot replace humans in the workplace completely, as most are only used for repetitive tasks on a large scale or work that humans cannot do, experts said.

AI is becoming an effective tool to solve difficulties in urban development and modernisation of big cities like HCM City.

Accelerating digital transformation and AI applications are identified as important tasks to improve the quality of public service management in the city.

There are a number of technology applications in the city’s public sector, such as AI cameras for security surveillance, electronic identification used to conduct administrative procedures, or chatbots and callbots used on public services.
