However, the journey of national digital transformation to build a digital economy and a new digital society is at the start-up stage for a long journey with many challenges.

The National Committee on Digital Transformation has just been established, chaired by the Prime Minister. This demonstrates the strong will and determination of the Vietnamese Government and the Prime Minister in promoting digital transformation from the central to the grassroots level, he said.

At the committee’s first meeting, 45 important tasks were proposed by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and other agencies to promote digital transformation in Vietnam. The MIC advised the Prime Minister to issue a strategy to develop e-Government towards a digital government, and submitted to the Government a draft strategy for development of the digital economy and digital society, which is expected to be approved in December 2021, Dung said.

Awareness of digital transformation among state agencies, businesses and the population has been enhanced. Digital technology has gradually entered into the activities of the Government, the economy and social life. However, there are many obstacles that need to be discussed and resolved.
