Minister Nguyen Manh Hung welcomes the US Congress Delegation

On January 20, in Hanoi, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung received the US Congress Delegation headed by Congressman Seth Moulton, Deputy Chairman of the Budget Committee, Member of the Committee of the US House of Representatives.

At the meeting, Congressman Seth Moulton said he was delighted and honored to be in Vietnam at a meaningful time when the two countries celebrate 25 years of diplomatic relations. At the same time, 2020 is also the year Vietnam becomes the Chairman of ASEAN and holds an important position in the United Nations Security Council.

 Congressman Seth Moulton highly appreciated the Vietnam-US cooperation relationship, considering it a role model in cooperation with other countries in the world.
 
Also at the meeting, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung and Congressman Seth Moulton exchanged views on the situation of 5G technology development and briefed on the development orientation of 5G in Vietnam and the United States.
 
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that in 2020 Vietnam would commercialize 5G and publish the standards of network security for 5G devices. Within ASEAN, Vietnam plays a leading role in developing 5G technology. The Minister proposed that the US send a focal point to discuss with Vietnam on the development of these technical standards and test whether the 5G devices manufactured by Vietnam can enter the US market.
 
The Minister also introduced the delegation about the ITU Digital World event - the world's largest telecommunications event and the first time that Vietnam hosted in 2020 and is expected to attract the participation of more than 100 countries. The Minister invited the Congressman to participate in the event and made a speech on cybersecurity of telecommunications devices.
 
In response to Minister Nguyen Manh Hung, Congressman Seth Moulton said that the US acknowledges the recommendations of the Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications and would have specific responses through the US Ambassador to Vietnam.
