Vietnam ICT Investment Forum

On September 27, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) organized the Vietnam ICT Investment Forum (VIFIF) with the theme "Digital Connection in the Fourth Industrial Revolution" in conjunction with the India - ASEAN ICT Expo. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam attended and delivered the opening speech.

Attending the Forum were Mr. Ravi Kant - Deputy Minister of Communications (India), representatives of Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Lao PDR, Ministry of Communications of Cambodia, embassies of Sweden, India, Peru, Cuba, departments of information and communication of provinces: Lai Chau, Bac Ninh, Nam Dinh, Bac Giang, ministries and nearly 500 Vietnamese and foreign enterprises operating in the field of ICT.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam said that the Fourth Industrial Revolution was making unprecedented changes in all fields of the economy and society. These changes are opportunities and motivations for countries to move quickly by restructuring the production and service structure of the economy.
 
The Government of Vietnam has determined to build a vision, orientation and policy in all socio-economic fields in order to take advantage of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The Ministry of Information and Communication is submitting to the Government for formulating priority policies to meet and create the momentum for the transformation of various economic, industrial and service sectors by encouraging the development of broadband and database infrastructure, completing the 4G network, researching and deploying 5G, etc. MIC will continue to promote the development of the telecommunication and IT industry, and attract foreign investment.
 
Deputy Minister Phan Tam hoped that during the forum, the business community, domestic and foreign investors would share their views, orientations, proposals and mechanisms, policies and solutions for Vietnam to continue to be an attractive destination for new generation investors in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
 
At the Forum, 4 workshops were took place focusing on the following topics: investment policies in digital connection; ASEAN digital connection; digital solutions and services on the 4G/5G platforms and future urban life.
 
On the sidelines of the forum, the India - ASEAN ICT Expo was organized with the participation of 30 Indian and Vietnamese IT and telecom companies, introducing telecommunications and IT products, services and solutions; IoT solutions in socio-economic sectors such as smart city, traffic management, agriculture and banking.
