Minister Truong Minh Tuan received the high-level delegation of Facebook

On April 26, Minister Truong Minh Tuan received and talked with the high – level delegation of Facebook led by Mrs. Monika Bickert - head of global policy management at Facebook.

At the meeting, Minister Truong Minh Tuan briefed on the development of telecommunications and IT - one of the important contributions to the socio-economic development. Currently, Vietnam’s population is more than 92 million, including more than 70% of Internet users, 45 million of Facebook users.
 
MIC facilitates Facebook on the basis of complying with international laws and Vietnam's laws.
 
Recently, however, there have been a number of non-genuine accounts violating the laws of Vietnam, such as: violence, child abuse; violating the privacy of individuals and organizations;... Therefore, it is a matter for MIC and Facebook to ensure the healthy social environment in general and the environment of Facebook in particular.
 
At the meeting, the Facebook representative expressed the willingness to cooperate with the MIC and the Government of Vietnam in general to comply with the laws of Vietnam. The two sides exchanged and strengthened mutual understandings.
 
"To be effective, Facebook must ensure a healthy environment, and Facebook must have policies for users to be assured and responsible for using the service," said Mrs. Monika Bickert. “We are committed to remove bad information violating Vietnam’s laws on Facebook, jointly build a healthy and safe online environment in Vietnam.”
 
At the meeting, Minister Truong Minh Tuan informed that MIC had a working session with Google to prevent and remove bad information violating of the law of Vietnam on Youtube  and initially obtained certain results.
