Vietnam – Mozambique cooperate in telecommunications

Within the framework of the working visit to Mozambique, on the afternoon of March, 11th, after attending the talk between leaders of the two countries, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son held talk with Minister of Transport and Communications, Carlos Alberto Fortes Meskita.

At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Bac Son informed Minister Carlos Alberto Fortes Meskita achievements that Vietnam gained in the field of telecommunication. Minister Nguyen Bac Son appreciated the role of information technology and telecommunications in the development of Vietnam. The State of Vietnam encourages the development of telecommunications, information technology, and Vietnam has become a country with rapid growth in Southeast Asia. Information technology industry brings $ 40 billion revenue for Vietnam per year.

Minister of Transport and Communications of Mozambique affirmed that telecommunication infrastructure and transportation were important, not only for Mozambique but also for the whole region. He also expressed his desire to have more opportunities to learn and exchange experiences with Vietnam.
 
On this occasion, Minister Nguyen Bac Son hoped that through bilateral activities, the two countries would continue to promote the multilateral cooperation as the two countries were members of International Telecommunication Union, and Mozambique kept an important role in Africa.
 
Totally agree with Minister Nguyen Bac Son, Minister Carlos Alberto Fortes Meskita also appreciated Movitel, a joint venture between Viettel and SPI (Mozambique) and wished to enhance cooperation to further the effectiveness of this project as well as Vietnam enterprises investing into Mozambique.
 
After the talk, the two ministers agreed on the signing of the Memorandum of cooperation between the two ministries to detail, in particular the possible areas for investment cooperation between the two countries in the near future.
