Vietnam -Tanzania boost cooperation in telecom investment

In the framework of the visit of President Truong Tan Sang to Tanzania, on March, 3rd, Minister of Information and Communications of Vietnam Nguyen Bac Son and Minister of Communications, Science and Technology of Tanzania Makame Mnyaa Mbarawa held talks to set up measures to further strengthen cooperation in the field of information technology between the two countries.

The two ministers confirmed the role and significance of information and communication in socio-economic development, productivity improvement and efficiency of State management and thereby improvement of the national competitiveness. The two ministers stressed, telecommunications and information technology were the essential infrastructure that countries needed to prioritize investment and development in the knowledge economy of the 21st century.

Minister Makame Mnyaa Mbarawa appreciated the effective cooperation between the two ministries, especially through Viettel’s project in Tanzania. He hoped Vietnam would continue with other projects, especially in information technology, including investment in infrastructure, telecommunications, internet services, digital television services. The Government of Tanzania would create maximum conditions for Vietnam enterprises in investing and doing business in Tanzania. 
 
The two ministers also discussed measures to further strengthen the effective cooperation with the goal of making communications and information technology become the typical cooperative relation between Vietnam and Tanzania. Remarkably, the two sides will strengthen the exchange of experiences of state management in the field of information and communication, particularly in telecommunications, information technology, information safety and training of human resources.
 
The two sides will also continue their mutual cooperation and support in activities of international organizations, including specialized international organizations in information and communication.
