Deputy Minister Pham Hong Hai attended and signed documents of World Radiocommunication Conference WRC-15

From November, 24th – 27th, 2015, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Hong Hai attended World Radiocommunication Conference WRC-15, and signed the Final Act.

World Radiocommunication Conference 2015 was held by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) with the participation of 3,300 delegates from 162 countries and 500 observers from agencies, organizations and businesses. The WRC addresses the regulation of satellite orbit and radio-frequency spectrum resources in the best interest of all end-users worldwide, with global implications for both policy-makers and the industry.

Vietnam delegation participated in WRC-15 with the aim of ensuring harmonization of frequency use between Vietnam and the world, as well as protected the rights of Vietnam in the frequency distribution and planning. To prepare for its participation in WRC-15, Vietnam has built and sent 15 proposals including 12 general recommendations of the Asia Pacific (APT) and 03 own proposals of Vietnam: allocating spectrum for mobile communication services, protection of satellite bandwidth for Vietnam, additional frequency bands for satellite operation (FSS), allocation of bands and modernization of information systems for marine, aviation operations, etc.

During WRC-15 Conference, Deputy Minister Pham Hong Hai met and worked with Mr. Zhao Houlin - ITU General Secretary, Mr. Francois Rancy - Director of Radiocommunication Bureau, Mr.  Cheasub Lee - Director of Telecommunication Standardization Bureau and Mr. Brahima Sanou – Director of Telecommunications Development Department.  At these meetings, ITU leaders highly appreciated the development of telecommunications and ICT in Vietnam, as well as the active participation of Vietnam in ITU’s activities. Deputy Minister Pham Hong Hai confirmed Vietnam’s further  participation in ITU’s activities in the coming time, and hoped to receive ITU’s continuous  support to Vietnam in its policy improvement as well as human resources development in the field of telecommunications.
