Vietnam- Laos joint stampset issued in Hanoi

The Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and the Laotian Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications specially issued stampset “Viet- Laos joint stamp issue: Year of the Solidarity and Friendship Vietnam-Laos 2012” on July 18, to mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Friendship and Co-operation Treaty. Deputy Minister of MIC Nguyen Thanh Hung attended and delivered the speech.

The stampset issuance is one part of activities of the project “Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year 2012” approved by the Prime Minister.

This set of stamp has two patterns. The first pattern depicts images of the leaders of the two countries, President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane, on two national flags’ backgrounds. The second pattern depicts two special cultural structures of the two nations, the One-Pillar Pagoda (Hanoi, Vietnam) and That Luang (Vientiane, Laos), on two national flowers’ backgrounds.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hung said that two countries’ leaders always respect and foster the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive co-operation between Vietnam and Laos.

He stressed that the issuance of this stampset showed faithful and close relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

The stamp issuance ceremony was organized on July 18th in the two countries’ capitals. Earlier, Vietnam issued five (05) sets of the stamp related to Vietnam-Laos relationship.
