City hosts IT and AI Business Day 2019

The 2019 Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence Business Day opened in Ho Chi Minh City on December 28, attracting dozens of IT enterprises to showcase their products.

Speaking at the opening, Politburo member and Secretary of HCM City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan affirmed that the city is the country’s leading locality in developing ICT. It also considers IT as an area that needs to be given priority to make breakthroughs.

Currently, the city owns the Quang Trung Software City – the largest software park in the country, hosting 165 operating businesses and more than 11,000 IT engineers and staff. The city is also taking the lead in IC researching and manufacturing. The Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh branch’s Software Park and the Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association have also witnessed strong growth.
 
In the near future, the city will build an innovative startup space to create the best conditions for startup businesses, Nhan announced, adding that enterprises that choose to invest in the city’s IT field are ensured their development.
 
He also emphasised that the labour productivity of the IT sector compared with the city’s average labour productivity was almost 1.96% higher. IT contributes at about 4.44% of the city's domestic production, becoming one of the main economic sectors of the city. The development of IT businesses is very important for the future of the city, Nhan stated.

At the festival, leaders from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee presented the HCM City 11th ICT Awards 2019 to 23 collectives and individuals, while also announcing the decision to admit the Thua Thien - Hue Centre for IT (HueCIT) in Thua Thien - Hue Province to join the city’s Quang Trung Software Park.
