Vietnam - Russia: Strengthening cooperation in telecommunications and information security

On February 20, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Hong Hai received and worked with the delegation of experts and enterprises of the Russian Federation, led by Mr. Mamonov Mikhail, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communication and Mass Communication, visiting and working in Vietnam from February 18-20.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Pham Hong Hai appreciated Russia's development in the field of telecommunications, information technology and its support to Vietnam in ICT, that contributed to the process of socio-economic development and innovation of Vietnam.

The Deputy Minister also briefly introduced about the Ministry of Information and Communication and shared the sector’s priorities and development orientations in the coming time.
 
In Vietnam, the development of e-Government, towards the digital Government, digital economy and digital society, associated with administrative reform, is currently interested in. The Prime Minister establishes the National e-Government Committee to develop a Government Resolution on tasks and solutions to promote the development of e-Government in the period of 2019-2020, towards 2025. Especially, in the period of 2019-2020, Vietnam will deploy a number of projects focusing on the establishment of a shared integration data platform, build and operate a national public service portal to promote online public services, and continue to enhance the quality of services through a public administration center and gradually establish smart cities. Therefore, the network security is a top priority. Vietnam hopes to receive support, cooperation and experiences from the Russian Federation in this area.
 
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Mamonov Mikhail made a proposal to cooperate more closely with the Ministry of Information and Communications in the field of telecommunications and information security. He expressed his wish that in the coming time, the two countries would offer reasonable roaming rates, bringing common benefits to users, businesses and visitors, and contributing to the economy development of the two countries. Besides, Russia is always ready to share experiences on network security and e-Government building for Vietnam.
 
Deputy Minister Pham Hong Hai expressed his belief that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia was deepening. At the same time, he affirmed: MIC is always ready to help and create favourable conditions for Russian businesses to invest and develop in Vietnam.
