Nguyen Thi Bach Duong, a student of Nguyen Trai Secondary School, Nam Sach district, Hai Duong province, has been awarded third prize in the 47th Universal Postal Union (UPU) International Letter-Writing Contest.

The 47th Universal Postal Union (UPU) International Letter-Writing Contest, themed “Imagine you are a letter travelling through time. What message do you wish to convey to your readers?", attracted millions of entrees from UPU member countries around the world.

The organising board selected one first, one second, and one third prize and five consolation prizes.

Earlier in May, Duong’s letter surpassed one million other entries from students under 15 years of age from across the country to win the first prize at the national-level UPU contest.

Duong's letter was then translated into French and English to compete at the 47th UPU International Letter-Writing Competition in Switzerland.

With the incarnation of Santa Claus to convey the message of children's rights, Nguyen Thi Bach Duong continued to outshine 60 letters from young people from other countries around the world, taking third prize – a Bronze medal for Vietnam.
