Minister Truong Minh Tuan meets Google

On January 17, in Hanoi, Minister of Information and Communication Truong Minh Tuan received Google’s high-level delegation headed by Mrs. Ann Lavin, Director of Public Policy and Government Relations, Google Asia - Pacific.

At the meeting, Minister Truong Minh Tuan acknowledged and appreciated the goodwill of Google and considered this as the first step in understanding, sharing information on the basis of complying with international and Vietnamese laws.
 
Minister Truong Minh Tuan thanked Google for actively cooperating with the MIC to stop, remove harmful and unlawful  videos and clips on YouTube.
 
The Minister hoped that in the coming time, the cooperation between Google and MIC would be more effective to enhance understanding between the two sides.
                                                                             
MIC asks Google to consider establishing a representative office in Vietnam to directly receive requests and perform related obligations when conducting operations in Vietnam.
 
MIC hopes to cooperate with Google to handle information security issues in Vietnam; organize seminars, training sessions in the field of information and communication that Google has strengths.
 
Mrs. Ann Lavin promised, Google complied with the laws of Vietnam. The purpose of this mission in Vietnam is to understand Vietnamese laws, work with relevant Vietnamese agencies to better understand and cooperate with Vietnam.
 
On the issue of information security, Google commits to cooperate to protect users. In the past year, Google has sent a specialist to Vietnam for supporting on information security with the Government of Vietnam. Google sees the potential of the Vietnamese people and supports Vietnam's digital economy.
