Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hung attends ASEAN TELMIN 17

From November 27 to December 1, the 17th ASEAN Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers Meeting (TELMIN 17) and related meetings were held in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Hung led the Vietnamese delegation to attend the meeting.

With the theme “ICT Connectedness and Readiness: Towards a Digitally Integrated Community", TELMIN 17 adopted the Siem Reap Declaration with the following main points: i) Confirming the Ministers' determination to accelerate the implementation of the AIM 2020 Master Plan, enhance connectivity and innovation in ASEAN through the development of digital knowledge and skills as well as access to broadband infrastructures, advanced services and applications to transform to the digital economy; ii) Continuing to affirm the important role of the ICT sector in the overall development of the region as well as realize the goal of ASEAN digital community: ensure cybersecurity, support MSME businesses, encourage startups, promote digital television, OTT services, etc and iii) Strengthening cooperation with stakeholders, dialogue and international partners in planning and implementation of advanced technologies in accordance with AIM 2020’s programs.
 
The ASEAN TELMIN had meetings with dialogue partners: China, Japan, Korea and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
 
Also in the framework of the Meeting, the award ceremony for products participating in the ASEAN ICT Awards, was held. As a result, Vietnam has three awarded products: BIDV Payment System of BIDV, Smart Bus Management System of FPT and Smartcom kids of Smartcom.
 
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hung met and worked with delegations of other countries and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to exchange and share information as well as specific cooperation in the coming time.
