The development of 4G LTE plays an important role in the digital era. Therefore, since 2010, the Ministry of Information and Communications allowed for operators to pilot the next generation mobile technology in Vietnam.
On the basis of the assessment of market demand, technology, equipment and related conditions, at the end of 2016, Ministry of Information and Communications has officially licensed for 4 major telecommunications operators in Vietnam to deploy 4G based on the LTE/LTE-Adv technology on the 1800 MHz band. "The deployment of 4G is an important turning point for Vietnam's telecom market," he said.
The launch of 4G in Vietnam provides opportunities for the growth of 4G services. With the increased speed of connectivity and data access, traditional Internet services rapidly meet user needs. A number of services/applications will be developed such as IoT services, applications for SmartCity, etc. The diversification of services on 4G LTE platform brings not only revenue to telecom enterprises but also the ecosystem of services and applications.
The Deputy Minister hoped that the seminar would help the ICT community update and share knowledge, technologies and management solutions. At the same time, it will serve as a bridge for policy makers and businesses in Vietnam to discuss development trends, update new technologies, share management and business experiences to further improve the strategic orientation of Vietnam to become a strong ICT country in the 21st century.
Also at the seminar, representatives of the Authority of Telecommunications - Ministry of Information and Communications reported some specific data on the deployment of 4G in Vietnam after 6 months of deployment.
