FTTH Council Asia - Pacific Vietnam Workshop 2016 in Ha Noi

On October, 13, the FTTH Council Asia - Pacific Vietnam Workshop 2016 was organized in Ha Noi. Deputy General Director of Authority of Telecommunications Nguyen Phong Nha attended the event and delivered a presentation.

Mr. Peter Macaulay – President of FTTH Council Aisa-Paciffic presented at the Workshop. Attending the Workshop also were members of the FTTH Council Asia - Pacific and representatives of FTTH operators in Vietnam: VNPT, Viettel, MobiFone, etc.

At the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Phong Nha, Deputy Director General of Telecommunications, presented the oriented development of broadband telecommunications infrastructure in Vietnam. In his presentation, he provided some information on the status of broadband development in Vietnam; as well as opportunities, challenges, objectives and orientations for development of broadband infrastructure in the near future.
 
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Peter Macaulay said, we believed that FTTH would create opportunities to develop a shared fiber infrastructure with the goal of maximizing usability, enhancing the broadband speed, bringing fiber to the home via a shared infrastructure to save costs, infrastructure and improve the quality of services.
 
FTTH Council Asia-Pacific is a non-profit organization founded in 2005 in Singapore, after the success of the FTTH Council USA and Europe.

The mission of FTTH Council Asia-Pacific is to promote the development of fiber-optic services by orienting providers and users about the opportunities and benefits of FTTH to improve the sustainable quality of life; provide a consistent overlook about the development of FTTH; as well as promote the development of FTTH market.

The Council brings together stakeholders, government representatives and developers for the purpose of positioning itself as the major resource base for optical fiber access in the region. This is a forum for the Council’s members to discuss FTTH technologies and applications, update the latest trends and share success stories in the field of FTTH. Members also have opportunities to connect with experts, analysts, customers and media in this field.

This workshop was organized to share the knowledge of regional and international experts about FTTH. Some of the topics of this workshop were: the latest FTTH update from the region, the challenges with FTTH deployment in the region; FTTH applications, contents; FTTH deployment experience; FTTH products, etc. Especially the workshop focused on the status of FTTH deployment in Vietnam.
