The PRF forum is one of the most important annual events of APT where the policy makers and regulators of Asia- Pacific region, international organizations and enterprises share and exchange experiences on policy making and implementation of telecommunication and IT development policies. It also aims to support countries in developing a stable and safe environment for telecommunication and IT.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Tran Duc Lai emphasized the important topic discussed in this forum is broadband and technology convergence that is the top concern of telecommunication leaders worldwide and a foundation for establishment of a technical infrastructure that meets all service needs of society and the development of economy.
At the forum, the deputy minister also presented the project to transforming Viet Nam into an advance ICT country approved by the Prime Minister. Development and improvement of broadband telecommunication and IT infrastructure is one of six key targets that need to be archived up to 2010.
Special sessions for the Business Dialogue were held with the theme “Industry view on Innovative Environment for Broadband Economy" at PRF-11. The Business Dialogue provided an opputinity for exchanging experiences on policies and regulations of business operation and investment.
This year’s APT forum coincides with the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (May 17). A talk show was held to respond the message of ITU Secretary General with the theme “Better life in rural community with ICTs” in the afternoon of May 17, 2011.
