IT application to enhance SMEs’ competitiveness

On 22 March, 2011, Ministry of Information and Communications co-operated with Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) to organize a conference on IT application to enhance competitiveness of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Over 200 SMEs nationwide attended the conference. Nguyen Minh Hong, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, attended and delivered the speech.

In the speech, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hong affirmed that IT application in enterprises especially SMES is an important task in Vietnam’s ICT development strategy. In the process of integration and global competition, effectively using ICT tools not only enhances management ability of enterprises but also improves competitiveness and creates new opportunities for them.

Speeches were presented at the conference mainly on status, challenges and opportunities for SMEs; IT application in some fields and the State’s role in supporting SMEs in IT application to enhance their competitiveness.

“IT helps SMEs not only create business opportunities but also enhance competitiveness”, Mrs Christine Zhenwei Quiang, WB high- level expert on IT said.

“The most popular way to promote IT application is the Government encourages SMEs’ IT application through symposium and training courses”, she added.

At the conference, representatives of IT solution providers introduced solutions to enterprises such as using digital signature in electronic transaction of FPT IS, CTIN work management software, eDocman etc.

The conference created the opportunity for enterprises, management agencies and IT solution providers to share experiences in IT application and find out effective measures in order to promote IT application in enterprises.
