International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is a specialized agency of the United Nations in the field of telecommunications and information technology. Viet Nam is one of 193 ITU’s members. Ministry of Information and Communications is authorized to represent the Government of Vietnam participating in this organization.

On July, 10th, 2014, in Hanoi, Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (VNPT) held the ceremony in handover the state ownership from VNPT to MIC in VMS and Post & Telecommunications Institute of Institute (PTIT), under Prime Minister"s 888/QD-TTg Decision dated June, 10th, 2014; and Minister of Information and Communications’ 878/QD-BTTTT and 877/QD-BTTTT Decisions dated June, 27th, 2014.

On May, 13th, 2014, Ministry of Information and Communications held a ceremony on receiving and announcing the World Atlas, published in Brussels in 1827, including a number of valuable maps contribute significantly to confirm the sovereignty of Vietnam over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

"60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory" postage stamp set

On May, 05th, 2014, in Dien Bien Phu City (Dien Bien Province), Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with Provincial People"s Committee of Dien Bien organized the special issue of the "60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (1954-2014)" stamp set. This event was one of activities of Ministry of Information and Communications practically celebrate the victory of Dien Bien Phu- ending of 9 years of resistance war and 80 years of French colonial rule.
